On or near the first Sunday in January, many Unitarian Universalist congregations hold a ritual to bid farewell to the old year and to release it. In the words of Rev. Elizabeth Harding, âThe fire communion separates the end of the year from the beginning, helping us to put in perspective the joys and sorrows, the changes and transitions, the ups and downs of the year. Itâs a half-way point in our church year, but a celebration of the outside calendarâs yearâs end and yearâs beginning.â Join UCWC members Kathy Beatty & Sandy Schaal as we strive to let go, while setting intentions for new beginnings and possibilities.
"Our Spiritual Paths" - Kathy Beatty, James MacFadyen, Lucias Clark, Curt Hogansen
Traveling along each of our spiritual paths is a unique experience. It can be a profound and singular journey and a joy of shared commitment simultaneously. Although Unitarian Universalists affirm the uniqueness and individual nature of a personâs spiritual path, our movement is also founded on a belief that community is essential to that journey. Each of us has a story that can be shared as we reflect what UCWC and Unitarian Universalism means to us. Please join us as we hear from members of the UCWC Congregation as they share their own spiritual journeys.
âWake Up to Freedomâ - Rev. Dan Schatz and Cassie Lengel
In 1966, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. urged Unitarian Universalists to wake up for freedom. In this special all ages service, we will explore Dr. Kingâs message with stories and songs.
