Upcoming Services
September 7: “This Joy – an Ingathering Celebration” – Rev. Dan Schatz
We are joyful when we come together! In this special all ages service we will celebrate our community with songs and stories of joy, our annual Blessing of the Backpacks, and a special sharing. After the service we will meet at East Goshen Park for our Annual Fall Picnic! All children and youth are encouraged to bring their backpacks or other school bags for the blessing.
September 14: “Explorers of the Spirit – A Way of Making Meaning” – Rev. Dan Schatz
What is Unitarian Universalism, anyway? Over the coming year, Rev. Dan will preach a series of sermons about our free faith, called Explorers of the Spirit. The first in the series, this service looks at our unique way of being religious. This is a Bring a Friend Sunday! Please consider bringing someone new!
September 21: “A Brighter Coming Day” – Rev. Dan Schatz
This week marks the 200th birthday of the great feminist writer, abolitionist, and suffragist, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper. Born a free Black woman in Baltimore in 1925, she settled in Philadelphia where she joined the First Unitarian Church. Our service will celebrate her legacy and the powerful message she has for us today.
September 28: “The Choice” – Rev. Dan Schatz
The holiest day of the Jewish year is a time for inward reflection, confession, and turning. In rituals and writings, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur present us not only an opportunity to seek forgiveness for the past, but also a choice for the future.
