Whatever your current definition of racism, these workshops will encourage you to look much deeper into its manifestations in American society. You will trace the development of White Power prior to the Revolution through the early years of our Democracy and up to the present. What will emerge is a disturbing mosaic of the methods used to manipulate society and its citizens—black, white, and Native American—in ways that maintain white supremacy. Participants will be encouraged to share personal stories and impressions as we work toward a greater understanding of the underpinnings of racism in America today. We guarantee that your understanding or racism will be deepened and in some respects altered.

The workshops follow a curriculum developed by the Unitarian Universalist Association. In some ways, they will help you understand the issues the UUA is currently facing. They will also provide a follow-up to our recent Black Lives Matter service on “Race Matters” featuring guest speaker Dr. Juliana Mosley.
