We will meet at The Concept School during our renovation.
Every Sunday morning a small group gathers in the first room on the left in the hall downstairs for meditation. Sometimes it’s in silence, sometimes it’s with recorded music or chants, and sometimes it’s a combination. It’s always, however, a time for quietly exploring our inner selves and breathing—just breathing.
If you’ve never meditated before, don’t feel intimidated. We can help you with a brief introduction to the practice and some tips. If you’ve meditated but only do it sporadically, that’s fine. This is just an opportunity, open to everyone, to come and breathe and let go and set aside one half-hour each week to devote to quiet.
The UCWC Folk Singing Interest Group
People have been on the move for as long as they have lived on Earth. The reasons have been as varied as the people themselves.
Today, we’ll highlight some of those reasons with a selection of songs in a variety of styles and historical contexts. We’ll include old favorites as well as ones some of you may never have heard. The congregation will be encouraged to sing along.
There is a well-groomed nature trail behind the Concept School. Anyone interested is welcome to meet behind the school at 9 am on either or both of the above dates for a nature walk. Bring binoculars if you have them, and wear appropriate shoes. Be prepared for mud. Nancy Artus will lead the walks and say a little about the birds, plants and butterflies that we see. Appropriate for all ages. We will be walking slowly and stopping frequently. Approximate time 30-40 minutes, but you can leave early or join late. We will cancel if it rains.
