In her book “Living With a Wild God,” the late Barabara Ehrenreich of blessed
memory, one of the world’s most devout athiests, exhorts that while we hold onto the
logical and rational, it would be a great mistake to ignore the stray bit of data that
doesn't fit into your preconceived theories, that may even confound everything you
thought you were sure of – and invites us to hold open for the wild possibility of
mystery, to dare to discover it in our common experience, to listen for the call coming
from within.

The Dispossessed: An Ambiguous Utopia, by Ursula LeGuin
Shevek, a brilliant physicist, decides to take action. He will seek answers, question theunquestionable, and attempt to tear down the walls of hatred that have isolated his planet of anarchists from the rest of the civilized universe. To do this dangerous task will mean giving up his family and possibly his life—Shevek must make the unprecedented journey to the utopian mother planet, Urras, to challenge the complex structures of life and living, and ignite the fires of change.
